The season is in full swing now and lots of racing and results coming through. I’m trying to convince athletes to send in photos so I can post them, but short of me flying all over the country to snap photos, this is it. Congrats to everyone, and keep up the hard work!

Nice Shot of Some of the DeBoom Gang at Alcatraz

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

We received this photo from DeBoom athlete, Jeff Peterson. Jeff escaped from Alcatraz over the weekend with a little help from the West Point Team, as they ran into one another out on the course and cheered each other on. Nice to see our athletes support one another. The good news is that all 4 cadets pictured will be returning to a West Point Men’s Team that was the National Runner Up at Collegiate Nat’s a couple weeks ago. Great experience for some youngsters.

Mr Peterson (see if you can figure out which one is Jeff), used Alcatraz to launch his professional triathlete debut – congrats Jeff! Jeff is also the owner of a new social network website for athletes called RunRamsey. Pretty cool site, so be sure to check it out and link up with like minded people.

Army Standout, Ashley Morgan enroute to 4th overall

Army Captain, Bryan Legasse, fighting hard on the day

The calm before the Storm.

On a day when all hell was breaking loose weather-wise, the USMA Tri Team kept their cool. Racing above and beyond their level of experience and lead by Army Standout, Ashley Morgan, the cadet women won their first ever National Title. In a close fought battle, Army edged out the Univ. of Colorado and Navy for the top of the podium. Ashley finished 4th overall in the women and her mere presence inspired the rest of the Army women to raise their game where every place counts.

The Army men showed that the team will be in good hands next year as they pushed themselves to a second overall team performance. In a race where the top 4 team members decide the score, the Army men and Cal Poly were in a virtual tie for second and went to a tie breaker (the 5th finisher) where Army freshman, Adam Leemans edged out the 5th place finisher for Cal Poly and earned the Army team a 2nd overall.

The best ever performance at Nationals for a young Army team that is destined to challenge for the crown again in 2011. Congrats to all the Army kids, parents, supporters and alumni. What a hard fought and well earned achievement.

Now time to get ready for Collegiate Duathlon Nationals…next week.

Coach DeBoom and Army Headed to Collegiate Nationals

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

Right on the heels of winning a Colorado State SCY Title with his Denver University Masters Swim Team, Coach Tony DeBoom is taking to the road this week where his West Point Triathlon Team will take on all comers at the Collegiate National Championships in Lubbock, TX.

The West Point team started the year as a young team looking to rebuild after losing several top ranked seniors the past couple years, but they have developed incredibly fast and are looking to stake their claim as the nation’s best in 2010.
